Hermain Cain's Sunshine Tie

We all see it around us; times are rough for many people in America and around the world. It's no secret; our economy has affected our lives in so many negative ways. It’s looking rather dreary out there, and here comes Herman, with his ray of sunshine, well, his yellow tie.

Like we all wish politicians did, let us get straight to the point. Why does Herman Cain always wear a yellow tie?

For starters, Yellow is easily noticeable. Take another look at the picture above. How can you not notice that yellow tie? As soon as you spot the yellow tie, then naturally, you notice the man wearing it, Herman Cain. With a Republican line up consisting of some rather popular politicians, it was imperative for Herman Cain to enter the games being as noticeable as possible (but with the unfortunate recent sex scandals, I’m sure he will have no problem with that). With the help of the yellow tie (and his recent media turmoil), Cain is without a doubt one of the most noticeable and popular Republican presidential hopefuls.

However, before Herman Cain became increasingly popular for his “999” plans and his personal life, he was a businessperson with a hardened face. Another reason why yellow was befitting for him. As a Wardrobe Consultant, it was a contradiction to see such a hardened face with a yellow tie, but again, as a Wardrobe Consultant, it makes sense. Yellow is also the color of cheerfulness and radiance.  To help balance out his hard look, yellow was essential.

Yellow is also associated with warmth, happiness, fun, and hopefulness. Who wouldn’t want to feel a bit more hopeful going into 2012?  And one can’t help but get a rush of energy upon seeing the color yellow. That’s exactly what many Americans feel is needed to get the ball rolling on national issues; a bit more energy.

Like every hue out there, yellow also has many negative connotations including insanity, being impatient, and being manipulative.  Don’t you think Cain’s Image Consultants  know this too? You bet!  Here is a way to spin these negative psychological suggestions:
  • You have to be insane to tackle current American issues and deal with our politicians.
  • There is no time to play politics as usual.
  • Sometimes, you have to be shrewd to out-think others, at all costs.
*** Combined with black, yellow evokes thoughts of poison and danger. How can Cain use that to his advantage?***

Details matter. Psychological influences matter more. As we get closer and closer to 2012's presidential campaigns, see if you can spot other usage of apparel that politicians may be using to psychologically influence the masses. Pay special attention to color.

*****As an Wardrobe/Image Consultant, here's my prediction: If Cain continues to wear his yellow tie, expect to see him in more soft shades or pastel yellows. also, expect to see him flash his pearly whites a bit more often.*****

Do you think other politicians will "borrow" Cain's yellow theme?
