Favorite Trends for Spring 2011

Here you go! My top favorite fashion trends for Spring 2011. Not featured on this list, but you should definitely look out for are Blue Jeans, sheer, and our dear old favorite, vintage looks. Enjoy!

Mix and Match Patterns
Remember there was a time when plaids and stripes were a no-no? Not anymore! Political rebellions and cultural con-conformists have allowed designers to be rebellious and break rules as well. Have fun with various patterns but remember this: it’s best on the eye for two similar patterns to have different scales, and two different patterns most often require similar scales, but can be different in scale.

Be Detail Friendly
When shopping or browsing your closet, opt for the items that have more details in the designs or a bold detail. Usage of zippers, textures, graphics, and cuts are just a few styling details that can add flare to any piece.

( Also notice the bold coloring, pattern, and the sheer at the collar bone)

Skip the Pastels, Go BOLD!

While pastels are not completely out, primary, secondary, and high chroma colors are the way to go. Just make sure you don’t come out your home blinding people. And for you more conservative people out there, as always, you can pair your bold piece of clothing with a neutral piece.

Red? Not Now. Go Fuchsia. Once a week, I get the question, “ How do I find the perfect shade of red for my lips?” But forget that. Aim for fuchsia ( or purple inspired color), and maybe even an orange tone!

Forget the Cleavage. Let’s See Those Legs.

Cleavage is almost a thing of the past, but we all know it will never go away. But here’s some good news for the bitty committee: legs are in! So show them off, and add length to those poles by wearing a shoe with a heal. ( Notice bold colors, patterns, and her lips!)

Play with Textures and Fabrics
If you’re not one that’s for those bold colors and crazy patterns, try playing with different textures and fabrics. They will provide just as much pizzazz to your outfit as the aforementioned.

Hey There Cheeks. ( See above photo)
Not those cheeks….the ones on your face…right below your eyes. Plain and simple, wear a little blush or bronzer on your face to liven it up.

White Out

White can be a bold color, especially if you’re bold enough to wear it from top to bottom. If you want, you can break it up with a neutral or bold colored accessory. If white is not your color, aim for an off-white. It'll look just as good against your skin-tone.

Naked Lips

As always, if your lips aren’t bold, keep them neutral. Do away with the pink tones for now. And please, if you do, stop wearing lip colors that are too light for your lips. They make your lips look shiny and ashy at the same time. ( Note: strong geometrical shapes, bright and contrasting colors, and notice howher contrasting black and white shoes complement the the contrasts in the colors. Nice pop of " color".)

You may be wondering why I don’t have any tips for shoes on this list. I think now is the time to really play around with your shoes. Have fun, be creative, and be foot loose! Just remember, if your outfit is bold, keep the overall look of your shoe simple ( simple can still be funky), and if the overall look of your outfit is simple, do the opposite.

My final tip, be well put together, just don’t look like you tried.
